Ever at a loss for words? Gmail might have a solution for that: answering your emails for you.
First responder
The Inbox by Gmail app now scans the contents of your emails and suggests succinct responses.
The idea is to help users on-the-go keep in contact with tapping out lengthy missives.
Smarty pants?
The new feature is called Smart Reply, and works by giving you three replies to choose from.
For example, if you’re asked about emailing through work documents, Smart Reply might offer responses such as “I’ve sent them through”, “Still working on them”, or “When are they required?”.
Similarly, other bite-sized responses might include “Sounds good”, “Thanks”, and “How about tomorrow”.
Once a reply is selected, you can edit before sending.
Write on
At the moment Smart Reply has around 20,000 responses logged, and as it learns more about your emails and writing style, this number will grow.
While the system isn’t perfect, it could potentially save busy bees much more time than current auto-correct options.
Smart Reply is now available via the Inbox by Gmail app.
