Google Glass goes on sale

After an extended, some might say seemingly endless, beta phase Google Glass is finally on sale in the UK.

GB gets Glass

Early adopters in Britain who are 18 years or older and willing to part with 1000 pounds can now purchase their very own pair of Google Glasses.

The moves comes two years after Google Glasses were first launched by skydivers in the US.

Since then the product has experienced an extended Explorer program, which saw high-profile users including Neil Patrick Harris and Newt Gingrich using Glass in various ways.

Is glassy classy?

Google Glass works by overlaying information to the user via a transparent screen above the right eye.

This screen can also record video and take photos from a front-facing camera, which is activated by voice commands or hand gestures. The unit requires a smartphone for internet connectivity.

What happens next?

Glass has been variously lauded as the next step in wearable technology, or the end of privacy as we know it.

Whatever your stance, Glass has people talking.

Now that it's out in the wider market we look forward to seeing how consumers, and marketers, use them.
