LinkedIn launches Snapchat-style AR filters

LinkedIn has rolled out a feature for tagging geo-locations, to help organise and better direct attendants to conferences and events.

Professional page taken from Snapchat playbook

LinkedIn recently introduced a new video feature by which users can create and share videos straight from the official app with a bit of visual flare.

Much like Snapchat’s geofilter feature, LinkedIn will allow users to add location-based filters like conference badges to their recorded video.

Filters can be tailored to specific events and enabled specifically for users attending at the given location.

Keeping graphics professional

The filters are modeled to look like conference badges, with a user’s pertinent information and photo in the top corner.

LinkedIn Product Manager Peter Roybal says videos featuring the new filters are shared 20X more than regular videos, especially amongst members attending the same event.

LinkedIn’s filters have been tested at a handful of professional events with favourable results. All illustrations have been designed in-house and closely control geofilter accessibility.

Do you feel filters add to professional videos? Would you be inclined to add badges to your video? Give us your thoughts in the comment section below.
