They say imitation is the sincerest form of flattery.
With that in mind, Messenger is now testing a self-destructing private conversation feature, a la Snapchat.
Temporary times
The new feature, appropriately called Secret Conversations, will reportedly encrypt messages end-to-end.
The announcement was made on Facebook by Messenger's David Marcus, who stressed the app is already secure – just that the new feature offers up beefed-up security for sensitive conversations.
Message will self-destruct in 3, 2, 1…
Users can also set a time limit for how long their conversations exist before being wiped.
The feature will be set as an option for all conversations, and if it proves a hit expect a wider roll out in the coming months.
