Mid-Year Australian Facebook Performance Report 2016

Online Circle Digital has just released its Mid-Year Australian Facebook Performance Report for 2016.

Through the analysis of 30 different industries and over 2600 Australian brand accounts, the report ranks the largest and most engaged Facebook accounts in Australia, using data from January 1 to June 30 this year.

Which brands performed best?

The report reveals that pages within the Musicians category performed best, with an average of 1.48 million fans per page.

This was followed by News and Magazines and Tourism industries have the most followers in Australia, with average of 1.4 million fans per page.

The Australian boy band 5 Seconds of Summer, followed by Iggy Azalea and Australia.com, continue to have the largest number of fans.

Which audiences were most engaged?

Publishers, Magazines and News, and Radio and TV Shows categories continue to drive the highest engagement.

The pages with most engagement are TODAY, That’s Life! and New Idea Magazine.

From the Top 30 Facebook pages by engagement, 12 are Radio brands, nine are News and Magazines brands, and three are from the TV Show category.

These findings corroborate previous studies that reveal users are increasingly relying on Facebook as a source of news.
