PayPal + MailChimp = Business in a Box

MailChimp has joined the roster of partners that PayPal have on board for their Business In A Box offering.

Free out of the blocks

With a logo that looks a bit Dropbox-ish, Business In A Box is a pre-packaged set of services—curated by PayPal—to accelerate the user’s journey to online selling. PayPal call it a ‘one-stop-shop’ for online selling.

MailChimp is the sixth brand to join PayPal’s Business In A Box program, with GoDaddy, Quickbooks, Shopify, WooCommerce and Xero also on board. It does not include Dropbox.

Pay of the partners

PayPal charges no upfront fee for the services provided as part of the Business In A Box package. Instead, they take commission of every transaction.

Most Business In A Box partners have free offerings for starters, with businesses graduating to their paid plans as they achieve scale.

For their part, MailChimp offer free services to Business In A Box users for ‘up to 2,000 subscribers’. In fact, consumers can get the same offer by going directly to MailChimp.

As MailChimp’s not-exclusive offer makes clear, Business In A Box is more like a cross-promotion than any true integration.

Does the convenience of packaged services from multiple providers appeal, or do you prefer to shop around separately for each component to get the best for your campaigns?
