Periscope Producer opens up new ways to Stream

Periscope’s live streaming service has launched Periscope Producer, allowing content creators to broadcast from peripheral cameras, encoders, and software.

Freedom from the phone

Much of the excitement generated by Periscope Producer’s release is the ability to broadcast from professional audio and video equipment, not just smartphones and tablets.

When Twitter launched Periscope two years ago, the goal was to allow users to seamlessly share live video from their mobile devices.

The success of the streaming app has lead to the demand for more flexibility with external equipment and programming, leading to legitimate news sources to take advantage of the existing platform.

Periscope Up

Organisations such as CBS, Disney, and Univision have all used Periscope Producer’s to change how they bring live coverage to online communities.

Big name brands such as Louis Vuitton have also used the external feature to stream fashion shows to users in real time, with the HD quality you would expect from “traditional” sources.

This emerging form of cooperative media-sharing is redefining how organisations bring content to their users and could mark a big shift for event coverage in the days to come.
