Report: Facebook in Australia 2014

A nifty new report sheds light on how Australians have used Facebook in 2014. Here are the highlights.

Face off

The Facebook Performance Report – 2014 End of Year Edition from The Online Circle measured engagement from 1 January to 30 November this year. The report covers 25 categories, 20 industries and 250 brands.

Engagement

Radio stations are kings of engagement. Hit107 has the most engaged Facebook fan base, followed by Fifi and Dave, 2Day FM, Australia.com and Hot FM Mackay.

Fan base

With 6.2 million followers, Australia.com has the most fans in the land.

Coming in second place are venerable pair Bananas in Pyjamas (2.9m fans), Hamish & Andy (2.2m fans) and Sydney.com (1.6m fans).  

Brand base

TV Shows, Airlines, Travel and Tourism, and Retail – Fashion are the top industries when it comes to fans.

However when it comes to engagement Radio, News and Magazines and TV Shows are the front runners.

FMCG

Coca-Cola Australia remains top dog in the FMCG sector, with over 1 million fans.

Making up the top three are V Energy Drink Australia (551,158 fans) and Slurpee Australia (452,310 fans).

Automobiles

It's the age-old question: Holden or Ford. When it comes to Facebook Aussies overwhelming vote for the former, with Holden boasting over 450,000 fans to be named the most popular automotive manufacturer.

Making up the top three is Hyundai Australia and Mercedes-Benz Australia. Ford Australia comes in at twelfth position.
