As Snapchat struggles to keep up with the Joneses (or in this case, every platform owned by Facebook), it’s not wasting any time rolling out new features helping advertisers cash in.
The latest development in Snapchatland: a self-serve ad platform.
Step right up
There are shouts and murmurs around the web predicting that Snapchat will launch its new platform in May. It will initially support Snap ads, or full-screen vertical videos.
The new platform is expected to operate much like Snapchat’s existing platform for sponsored geofilters.
E-volution
Until now, advertisers had to buy Snap ads from either a managed service or third-parties.
A self-serve platform could open Snapchat up to a broader range of advertisers, particularly SMEs.
Until recently the minimum spend for Snap ads was US$1000 per day. That figure would presumably come down with the arrival of a self-serve platform.
