Transfer large files in a flash with PushBullet Portal

File transfer service Pushbullet has just launched Portal, a new app that lets you send large files between your mobile device and computer.

Push to send

Pushbullet announced Portal in a blog post.

“We built Portal with a sole purpose—to make getting files onto your phone effortless, even if those files are very large or you have lots of files you want to transfer,” wrote Pushbullet’s Ryan Oldenburg.

Wifi warrior

Portal uses a WiFi connection to send files as large as 1GB to and from its Android and iOS apps. Both devices must be on the same network, which Pushbullet says improves upload and download times.

Aside from transfers, Portal also shows your recently transferred items, which can be opened and re-shared as required.

To keep things centralised, Portal keeps all of your transferred files in its own folder on your phone.

Content curator

Video is now one of the most popular forms of content on mobile, with a recent study showing increasing numbers of Australians are watching longer-form content like TV shows on their phones.

An app like Portal might assist with bringing in all that rich media together – hands free.
