Tribe has released a massive update that brings speech recognition and suggested links to video calling.
Dial it in
Tribe's walkie-talkie app for iOS and Android now automatically adds subtitles when you make a call.
The "Magic Word" function offers all sorts of interesting links based around your utterances.
For example, if you're chatting about Kim and Kanye, Tribe will post links to their social media pages. If you mention a relevant product, a link to Amazon will appear.
Mention a location and Google Maps chimes in. Have music playing in the background? Spotify adds a playlist.
Next level
While some of the features may end up as gimmicks, the release places Tribe miles ahead of video call offerings from Messenger and Snapchat.
Tribe currently has had 500,000 downloads and 40,000 daily users. This may well increase with its latest update.
