Twitter will now automatically loop all videos up to 6.5 seconds in length, stepping into the shoes formerly filled by Vine.

The new looping function will apply to videos shot across any apps, including Facebook and Snapchat.
While the end of Vine in January was a blow for Twitter's video creation aspirations, the real-time feed and lack of complex algorithms means the platform is a natural fit for short clips.
It also provides an alternative for tweeters to post video content, besides Instagram.

Vine now exists solely as a camera app.
However it may live on if short-form videos remain popular on its creator's feed.
