Last year Mevo Cam made it easy to stream quality video directly to Facebook Live and Periscope. In Australia, it was around $625—but was limited to 720p via iPhone or iPad.
Now, Mevo has moved to the next phase, with a bunch of upgrades on the way for resolution, platform compatibility, and service integration.
Ripper resolutions
If your bandwidth can handle it, the updated Mevo will let you stream at 1080p, a leap from the 720p it previously managed. Also, you can record to a Micro SD card at killer 4K.
You can test your 1080p on YouTube Live. Integration for it was sorely lacking at Mevo’s launch, but is set to be a proper part of the new app version.
Connected & compatible
Mevo Cam has the wireless connections covered with 4G LTE, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth. It uses mobile devices as its base, so connectivity is key.
Speaking of mobile, the Mevo Cam has finally got itself onto Android.
Amped apps
Mobile apps are an important part of the Mevo offering.
More than just an on/off switch for the camera, the app actually lets you direct. It shows you the camera's wide-angle view, with a red box indicating which part of the pic is being streamed.
You can pan and zoom with touch genstures.
In store
Version 1.5 of the Mevo app for iOS is in beta, currently available only from Mevo's own website. The official iOS app update is still a couple of months away.
Beta for the Android version of the app is also available only from Mevo. It's limited to select high-end devices and may be to certain locations.
