The week as the nation finally recovered from @AustralianOpen fever, tweets about everything from politics to ponies occupied centre court in the world of tweets.

Gina Reinhart snapping up Fairfax shares like they’re going out of fashion got tweets stirring early in the week with #gina and #rinehart echoing through the Twittersphere.

After taking a tumble last week @JuliaGillard was back in the spotlight as her leadership credentials are becoming increasingly questioned, reflected in the #leadership, #auspol and #rumours hashtags.

Overseas the US Presidential race is gaining traction as @newtgingrich and @MittRomney battle off to see who'll face @BarackObama. Elsewhere global tweeters debated who indeed was the #WorstRappersAlive.

As the weekend approaches our thoughts turn to lighter fair, with #muggy trending in Adelaide, #paradise in Perth and #pony galloping through Hobart.
