Intra-office social networking system Yammer has partnered up with analysis program Crane to deliver businesses an emotion-based analysis of their employees.
Social in the workplace
Yammer, launched in 2008, has been widely used by offices around the world as an enterprise social networking and microblogging system that allows private communication within an organisation.
This partnership with Crane adds additional functionality to the cloud-based software to allow organisations to gauge the types of emotions about their work their employees are expressing in their conversations.
Emotional Registry
When added to the Yammer network, Crane analyses the company’s social network data with emotion rather than the traditional positive, negative or neutral classification.
“By correlating emotional “profiles” with behaviour, Crane provides customers the story behind why their employees are feeling a specific way,” says Crane on their website.
Business website CIO has also said that the Crane software can identify up to as many as 80 different emotions and lets administrators search for keywords in the analytics data, plot graphs, generate word clouds and identify the influence exerted by different employees.
Getting to the heart
By combining this unique analysis with the traditional, Crane has the potential to allow companies to get an insider perspective on their employees, opening the door to advancements in marketing, employee retention, product development and improvements in company morale.
