Facebook and Apple have strengthened their ties by announcing a partnership between Facebook Gfts and the iTunes Store.
The gift that keeps giving
Facebook Gifts launched in September and allows users to send physical gifts and vouchers through the social network.
Since launching Facebook Gifts has steadily upped its offering, including the ability to give charitable donations in the wake of Hurricane Sandy.
This week Facebook announced that users can now purchase iTunes Gift Cards accompanied with music recommendations via Facebook Gifts.
Apple of Facebook's eye
The announcement marks a strengthening of the relationship between Facebook and Apple.
Facebook functionality was baked into Apple's iOS 6, while Facebook's sharing buttons now appear on iTunes.
By leveraging one another's massive user base, this arrangement will most likely prove a boon for Facebook and Apple – although details about profit sharing remains unknown.
Apple posted a record $2.1 billion profit from the iTunes Store last quarter. With this new arrangement, that record may not last for long.
