Foursquare has rolled out a sleek new update that optimises push notifications and personal recommendations.
Concierge in your pocket
Aside from looking great, the 7.0 update focuses on giving users information about places upon arrival.
For example, when a user visits a restaurant Foursquare might send them recommendations of the most popular dishes. Or when a user arrives in a new city or neighbourhood, Foursquare will alert them to the best places to visit.
Push back
The update comes as services (including Google Now) increasingly offer consumers pro-active or “push” advice, rather than waiting for users to ask a question.
If users don't mind being “pinged” it could also provide a new way for retailers to attract customers beyond just “checking in.”
