Times are tough in the mobile review world, as big players like Facebook muscle in on the lucrative market. The upside is that the mobile platforms are continually rolling out updates to keep users and advertisers sated.
Foursquare, one of the original mobile check-in sites, has just launched a raft of new features to keep consumers checking-in.
Keeping it real-time
Foursquare now offers real-time recommendations, so when users check-in to a location they’ll now be given recommendations on what to experience there. This might mean trying the signature porterhouse steak at a restaurant, or catching the happy hour at a bar.
Another update is the refreshed Nearby tab, which now allows users to see when their friends are close by.
Check it out
Foursquare is rapidly expanding its offering from a simple check-in service to something more rounded and personal. Earlier this year the platform started asking users for feedback on locations to boost engagement, in addition to launching self-serve ads.
Whether the latest update will be enough to keep users away from an increasingly mobile Facebook remains to be seen.
