Google has announced that its Advanced Protection program can now give select Apple apps access to their data and bring enhanced security to the competition.
Security of the highest order
According to Dario Salic, product manager for Google, the opening of this latest restriction hopes that “any user-facing an increased risk of online attacks enrolls in the Advanced Protection Program.”
The system requires a two-step verification that could previously only provide access to Google data from Google’s own web and mobile apps.
Building bridges
The Advanced Protection service is meant for users most likely to be targets by a sophisticated attack, such as journalists, business leaders, activists, and politicians.
The support of Apple’s own native apps should grow Google’s userbase without forcing a complete transfer of brand loyalty, which is an interesting development between two of the industry’s top dogs.
