Google’s new ad service

Google has just released AdSense Direct, a new tool for small publishers to sell their ads directly.

Add it up

Google announced the news in a blog post.

“We’re happy to introduce AdSense Direct, a new feature for publishers getting started with their first directly sold ad deals.

“You can easily manage directly sold ads from within your AdSense account, and show them on your pages without needing to make any changes to your site’s code,” wrote Matt Goodridge – AdSense Product Manager.

Size doesn't matter

AdSense Direct also gives publishers greater control over where their ads are displayed.

Under AdSense, ads are selected by Google to appear on certain websites, based on what Google thinks readers were interested in.

AdSense Direct lets publishers deal with individual advertisers directly, even if they're not signed up for AdWords. This means more specific targeting, especially for publishers with niche markets.

Stay on target

AdSense Direct looks to be an attractive option for small publishers, and a potentially lucrative one.

Yes, Google takes a 15 per cent cut on all transactions, but by dealing directly with advertisers publishers may be able to charge higher rates for ads.

AdSense Direct is only available to US users, with a global rollout expected later this year. To find out more visit adsense.blogspot.com.au
