There's no denying that getting organic content seen on Facebook is getting more difficult as the platform moves towards a more monetised model.
While some studies show that organic posts now reach as little as six per cent of followers, but there are still a few tricks to cut through on Facebook without spending a penny. Here are three of our favourites.
Post a picture
Facebook users really, really love photos. Images are the most shared content on Facebook, with recent reports claiming photos account for 75 per cent of shared content.
Whether your photo is stand alone or leads to a link, you've already given yourself a head start when in comes to the News Feed race.
And remember to keep your copy short and snappy – shorter posts get 23 per cent more interaction.
Video
After photos, videos are the second more shared type of content on Facebook. Videos are 12 times more likely to be shared on Facebook than links and text posts combined.
Plus interesting content is one of the top three reasons people follow brands on social media, so keep your videos curated and consistent.
Ask a question
Instead of statements, create a conversation by asking a question in your next post. Aside from building up engagement it's a great way to improve relationships with customers.
Just remember to respond in a timely manner and reply to all posts, not just the glowingly positive ones!
Posts with questions lead to much greater interactions, while questions containing the words “should”, “would” and “who” get more traction than those containing the words “why” and “how”.
Some research also shows adding emoticons to questions can raise interactions by a third.
