It's been a busy month for LinkedIn. Earlier this month the social network for professionals launched Endorsements, and last week gave its profile pages a major refresh.
Now LinkedIn has launched video advertising for businesses.
Lights, camera, LinkedIn
Until now, businesses could only advertise on LinkedIn using text or image based ads.
Companies can now use videos to advertise products via LinkedIn Ads, which allows users to set timelines and cost per click, similar to Facebook Ads.
Moving with motion
LinkedIn's online marketing manger Will Hambly announced video ads in a blog post earlier this week, explaining businesses can use existing YouTube videos with the new service.
“LinkedIn self-serve video ads work seamlessly with YouTube so you can instantly leverage your brand’s existing YouTube presence and promote same videos on LinkedIn. You’ll still be able to grow and capture the same YouTube stats you’re used to,” wrote Hambly.
When a LinkedIn member clicks on a video ad it will play a 30 second video. Once the video is complete users can click through to the advertiser's landing page or website, similar to current text and image ads.
Video advertising is now available globally and can be accessed by creating a LinkedIn Ads Account.
