After much speculation, hope and a fair bit of gossip, Netflix is finally coming to Australia and New Zealand this March.
So it seems an appropriate time to take a closer look at the video streaming colossus.
Visionary?
Netflix has just released its Q4 earnings for 2014, and the picture is looking bright.
Globally, Netflix netted 4.33 million new members – well above the forecast of 400 million and above the previous quarter's 4.07 million.
In total there are now 57.4 million Netflix subscribers spread across almost 50 countries.
Money machine
Over the same period Netflix posted a net profit of US$84.3 million.
That's almost double the US$48.4 million net profit the company posted in Q3 2013.
Square eyes
On average, Netflix users spend over 1 billion hours a month on the platform, while 61% admit to binge watching shows.
Prime time
Netflix reportedly paid US$100 million to produce the political drama series House of Cards.
The investment paid off: House of Cards went on to win three Primetime Emmys.
