YouTube's had a good year so far, with advertising increasing and 'Gangnam Style' becoming the first YouTube video to pass 2 billion views.
And as these latest stats show, the video juggernaut shows no signs of slowing anytime soon.
1 billion club
YouTube is part of the extremely exclusive 1 billion club, along with Facebook. At last count there were over 1 billion YouTube users, who account for 4 billion views per day.
In 2011 alone there were over 1 trillion visits to YouTube.
Square eyes
The public's appetite for YouTube seems to know no bounds.
Currently there are 100 hours of videos uploaded to YouTube every minute, and every month 6 billion hours of YouTube videos are viewed.
Global audience
It seems YouTube is pretty much popular wherever you go.
Over 80 per cent of YouTube traffic comes from outside the US, and the platform is available in 61 languages.
It's estimated that 79 per cent of UK mothers (aged 18 – 34 with children) use YouTube.
The platform also has over 60 million users in China, while Saudi Arabia is the biggest relative YouTube user, with its citizens clocking up 90 million views per day.
Young YouTubers
The platform remains a firm favourite with young users. Half of US teens cite YouTube as their preferred platform, while 83 per cent of Generation Z users visit the platform monthly.
Mobile movies
YouTube's audience is increasingly on-the-go, with 40 per cent of the platform's traffic coming from a mobile device.
Year-on-year the YouTube app is growing at 27 per cent.
Big bucks
In 2013 advertisers spend US$5.6 billion on YouTube, while over the same period YouTube netted close to US$2 billion in global ad revenue.
YouTube's share of the US video ad market is currently 20.5 per cent, and growing.
