International makeup giant Revlon is making sure the lips of Australian ladies stay sufficiently shiny with the release of their latest share app.
The Lip Bump Butter app, designed by digital agency VML, allows makeup lovers to ‘bump’ their smart phones in exchange for a lipstick sample voucher, and sees apps move further towards the physical share space.
Bump for butter
After downloading the app users ‘bump’ their phones with a fellow app user, then submit their contact data on the Revlon to both received a sample.
2000 samples of Revlon’s ColorBurst Lip Butter were available in total.
Word of Mouth
Interactive apps with 'real life' rewards are proving popular with consumer brands, for their ability to generate strong word of mouth buzz and an interactive buyer presence.
Aden Hepburn of VML explains “There is a huge opportunity to find new ways of connecting consumers to products and the 'Revlon ColorBurst Lip Butter Bump' sampling app is just the first push.”
Revlon Australia managing director Rob Garratt agrees, “This bump app is in perfect synergy with the tone of communication as well as the target of women this product speaks to. It's interactive and engaging, digital, and an innovative way of sampling.”
