Siri might get all the press, but there are plenty of other digital assistants out there in the electronic ether.
Today we're looking at Microsoft's Cortana.
Virtual valet
While Cortana is designed for Windows Phones and PCs, it's also compatible on iPhone.
The app works on a similar premise as Siri: ask Cortana questions about virtually anything and it will attempt to answer them. Like Siri, the results can be mixed.
While Cortana can help with the usual day-to-day requests such as reminders, directions and web search, you can also tell Cortana what you're interested in.
For example, a sports team or a TV show. Cortana will then collect articles, posts, and updates on your favourite topics so you can access them whenever you fancy.
Synch it in
While Cortana isn't as intuitive as Siri, the app integrates with your iPhone and Windows PCs – something that could benefit users who like mix and match their software.
And Cortana also tells jokes.
