Social media hits Three Billion Users

The combined total of active users using social media platforms has passed the three billion mark.

We are digitally social

According to We Are Social and Hootsuite, out of 3.819 billion internet users, 3.028 billion engage in social media.

Just to put that in perspective, with a global population just shy of 8 billion, nearly a third of the world is communicating via digital social platforms.

And it’s not shrinking any time soon. Close to 1 million new active users joining the ranks every day, as of the second quarter of 2017.

Global village gets even smaller

Regarding We Are Social and Hootsuite’s findings, over 121 million new users have joined the ranks of social media since April of 2017, with 82 million engaging through mobile alone.
