They say that timing is everything, but when it comes to posting on different social platforms a 'one size fits all approach' doesn't necessarily apply.
Are your Facebook followers online when your LinkedIn subscribers are? How do your Twitter followers differ from Instagram users?
A recent infographic from Social Caffeine sheds some light on the topic, showing the best and worst times to post to the major platforms. Here are the top results.
Facebook in the afternoon
Facebook's traffic is at its busiest over the working day, specifically from 9am to 4pm. According to Social Caffeine posts between 1pm and 4pm get the most traction, while anything between 8pm and 8am perform most poorly.
The premium time to post during the week is 3pm on Wednesday.
Tweeters get going a little later than Facebook users, with traffic building after 11am. Monday to Thursday between 1pm – 3pm are the top Twitter slots, while anything after 3pm on Friday will struggle.
LinkedIn members are industrious types and use the platform most commonly outside of work hours. You can expect the most response to content posted between 7am – 9am, and 5pm – 6am.
Don't expect much response between 10pm – 6pm, when sensible LinkedIn users are getting a good night's sleep.
Pinterest followers like a sleep in, generally not getting around to pinning until later in the day. Peak times for posting on Pinterest are between 2pm – 4pm and 8pm – 1am. Bucking this late night trend, Pinterest traffic also soars on Saturday mornings.
