Tumblr now suggests conversation starters

Tumblr might be one of the most popular platforms for the lucrative teen and young adult sets, but that doesn't mean every marketer is au fait with the nuances of the network.

Helping accelerate that learning curve is an update that suggests conversation starters on Tumblr.

Users logging into Tumblr for the first time now see suggested topics to kick off the conversation via Tumblr Chat.

"Now messaging windows gently suggests some things to talk about with Tumblrs you're about to message for the first time. In case you panic under pressure and forget everything," Tumblr explained up its app page.

Silence isn't golden

When new users follow a Tumblr blog, they'll be given information about that blog's recent activity, popular hashtags, and what topics the blog regularly discusses. For example, using the #fashion or #food hashtags.

Tumblr first debuted its chat feature in November. This update might help brands looking to connect with relevant Tumblr influencers, while upping Tumblr's engagement figures.
