Twitter has announced it will roll out a new look design with enhanced features, including upgraded profile pages, over the coming weeks. It's the most substantial update since Twitter's web analytics offering in September this year.
New navigation
Four new tabs: Home, Connect, Discover and Me allow for easier navigation and personalisation of the Twitter stream.
Previewed images
As part of the changes, images and videos can now be viewed within the twitter stream.
Brand pages
The biggest changes for brands will be the enhanced profile pages, which allow businesses to display a larger header image, logos and improved images and visuals. Tweets can also be ‘promoted’ to the top of the timeline so business can control what tweets are most prominent on their landing page.
Enhanced profile pages are currently only available to to 21 advertising partners, charities and select individuals including @CocaCola and @AmericanExpress and will be available to wider audiences in the coming months.
Across the board upgrades
The new design and features apply to Twitter.com and mobile phones with Tweetdeck, Twitter’s official app, also receiving a refresh.
