Twitter has just released a new way to sort through the increasing avalanche of tweets.
Hidden gems
Now when users enter a search term on Twitter.com they can filter the results into categories such as people, news, photos and video.
Users can further refine their search to exclusively include tweets from people they follow, or tweets near their current location.
Cutting through the chatter
The update comes as Twitter aims to make content discovery more targeted, in addition to a greater emphasis on photos and videos.
For example, users looking for videos can now search Vine for related content.
A running start
As Facebook increases its march into real time events and news, by making content easier to discover Twitter might keep one step of the monolith – for now at least.
