Twitter is trialling a new way for users to share videos in their tweets.
Earlier this week, Twitter CEO Dick Costolo tweeted about preparing steak tartare, and included an embedded video showing off his culinary skills.
Vine for video
The video was produced by Vine, the video-sharing start up that was acquired by Twitter last October.
While Twitter has not officially commented on the subject, Costolo's tweet indicates Twitter may use Vine's services to embed videos in tweets, similar to the way images can now be embedded.
Australian premiere
According to The Financial Review, Twitter will be rolling out the ability to embed six second videos in Australia over the coming weeks.
While there are third-party services such as Twitvid that already allow users to add videos to tweets, the partnership with Vine would mark Twitter's first official foray into video.
Whether Twitter users will embrace six second videos that play on loop remains to be seen.
