Twitter has debuted a new feature that lets marketers pay to get to the top of your timeline.
#TopofthePops
Twitter announced the feature, dubbed First View, in a blog post.
“Today we’re introducing First View: an engaging and highly visible way to share your brand story with compelling video creative across Twitter’s massive audience."
Pay to play
First View is basically an ad unit (usually in the form of a video) that places Promoted Tweets and Moments to the top of the timeline, where it angelically floats for a 24-hour period.
To mix things up, the same brands cannot use a First View unit on consecutive days.

Twitter promises this ensures the ads will allow marketers to reach new audiences, and the promise of prime real estate might help increase the life of your best Promoted Tweets.
However the rest of us will have to wait to see how well it works.
First View is currently only available to select partners in the US, with a wider roll out expected shortly.
