Coming hot on the heels of announcing its IPO, Twitter has just rolled out a raft of exclusive features for verified users.
Better conversations
Verified users are typically influential tweeters, celebrities or brands that Twitter vetoes to stop copycat accounts. Verified users are identified by a white tick next to their profile.
From today, verified users can better manage their conversations (and filter out the noise) by filtering their Twitter mentions.
Filter
Verified users can now view mentions of themselves in three categories: all, verified and filtered. This segmentation is intended to help users identify key conversations and block out a lot of noise and spam.
Mentions in the “Verified” category show tweets from fellow verified users, while “Filtered” reveals tweets that Twitter has determined is not spam.
Keep calm and tweet
As rival platforms like Instagram and Google+ woo celebrities and influential users, this update is another way to keep Twitter's movers and shakers (and their armies of followers) engaged.
It will also assist brands in identifying and reaching out to key consumers, and hopefully not ostracise regular Twitter users not afforded this new functionality.
The update is now available for Twitter.com, while mobile versions expected shortly.
