Vine, the video app that lets users create and share short looping videos, has just launched a hashtag feature making it easier to discover content.
Looping back
Vine has generated a lot of buzz since Twitter announced it was using the app as its video service in January this year.
Since then Vine has withered a porn scandal, expanded to include embedded videos, and the Tribeca FIlm Festival has invited people to submit movies created on the app.

Vine's co-founder and CTO Colin Kroll announced the trending hashtags in a blog post.
The hashtags, which are available in the Explore section of the app, will operate in a similar way to those used on Twitter and allow users to discover the fastest-rising content on the app.
“We launched Vine with an Explore section to make it easier for you to find great content, like popular posts and hashtags, from accounts you may not follow. Since launch, there have been a ton of awesome, creative posts that don’t always make it to the popular sections. In many cases, these posts include a hashtag that the community is using,” wrote Kroll.
Vine's embrace of hashtags brings it into line with other platforms including Instagram, Google+, Flickr and potentially Facebook.
With a reported growth rate of 1300 per cent in the past month, watch this space for more Vine announcements.
