G Suite verification gets simpler on iOS

Google has a new solution to let iOS users easily and securely access their G Suite services.

And it only needs the basic of G Suite apps—the email client.

Gmail in the middle

Two-step verification for G Suite on Android is easy: Google Prompt is the purpose-built, native solution. On iOS, things haven’t been quite so straightforward… until now.

The Gmail app for iOS is now capable of automatically communicating Google Prompt messages to G Suite users.

Two-stepping

Two-step verification is an easily-implemented step up for securing G Suite (and many other services). So, any encouragement to get users to adopt it should result in more secure systems for businesses working with G Suite.

Before they could do it with the Gmail app, iOS users had to install the more broadly purposed Google app to complete the two-step verification process.

Old alt app

While hardly onerous, the Google app is one more installation that some Apple-oriented folks may deem otherwise useless or unwanted.

Conversely, Gmail is central to G Suite services. For any G Suite client device, the presence of the Gmail app is presupposed.

This new solution makes two-step verification a genuine G Suite standard, regardless of the user’s hardware.

As Android and iOS evolve, what are the worst lingering inconveniences for users trying to use services from one platform on a device from the other?
