According to a new study, Australia now has the fastest 4G network in the world.
Fast mover
The report, from British from OpenSignal, looked at 4G coverage and speeds around the globe.
Australia tops the list with an average network speed of 24.5 megabytes-per-second (mbps), with Italy and Brazil making up the top three.
The US ranked in at fifteenth spot, behind Russia.
Patchy coverage
However it wasn't all good news. Australia comes in ninth position when it comes to coverage, with Australians only having access to 4G networks 58 per cent of the time.
In contrast South Korea, which ranked first for coverage, provides its citizens with 4G access 91 per cent of the time.
Telcos tune up
Telstra had the greatest speeds and coverage, averaging 23.8 mbphs and 64 per cent coverage.
Optus clocked up an average of 19 mbps and 48 per cent coverage.
Australia's 4G network launched in 2011, and since 2012 the network speed has increased 42 per cent.
