Facebook is introducing cartoonish avatars that users can create and customise, a popular feature across many platforms.
Cartoon You
The new feature was recently spotted within the code of Facebook’s latest Android app, allowing users to send avatar-inspired stickers via comments and messages.
The avatar system has yet to begin testingm but Facebook invested heavily in Spaces’ VR avatars and has long been refining their customisation layout.
What’s more, Facebook has recently announced a new way to automatically create avatars based on an snapshot or uploaded photo.

The ability to create cartoonish profile pics dates back to the days of club penguin and beyond, but has never lost its appeal, sprouting time again throughout different apps.
The popularity of Snapchat’s bitmojis has likely spurred Facebook to stay in step with yet another popular feature proven by the competition.
Like Microsoft and Nintendo, users can be sure to expect the usual stock head shapes, accessories and all the wacky glasses you can shake a virtual selfie at.
What do you think about adding avatars to the Facebook experience? Is it much of a change? Let us know what you think in our comments.
