eBay Authenticate has recently launched, allowing sellers and retailers to verify high-end goods.
The Real McCoy
Sellers must opt-in to Authenticate, which works on a fee-based system calculated by the type of goods being sold.
Once you're signed up, listings will display that they're covered by Authenticate.
After your item is sold, it's assessed by a professional authenticator before being shipped.
Fight back
Smaller platforms selling high-end fashion items have long offered authentication, something eBay and Amazon do not.
By moving into this growing market, eBay can help clamp down on dodgy rip-offs while letting sellers command higher price tags for authentic goods.
