Bots have been big news on social for sometime, with Facebook and Twitter falling over themselves to roll out new bot-related business.
But it seems consumers are less enthused about our new bot buddies than the platforms would like.
Nice Bot?
While Messenger has eagerly embraced all manner of bot-action, it looks like Facebook is easing back from bot-only options. A recent Messenger update favours traditional persistent menus.
Online clothing retailer Everlane was one of the first brands to partner with Messenger to embrace bots. However Everlane recently announced it was returning to old fashioned emails over bots for notifications.
Too fast, too soon?
While there are now over 34,000 bots Messenger, the technology behind them can be clunky and unintuitive at times.
Down the track bot tech will no doubt improve, but until then it looks like users still prefer more traditional forms of contact.
