Facebook is beginning to ask users which type of ads they'd prefer in their News Feed.
Pick 'n' mix
Facebook explained the move is intended to provide more relevant audiences for its 1.5 billion active advertisers.
Now when users hide an ad, Facebook will attempt to understand why. For example Facebook wants to know if the ad is not relevant. too frequent, spammy or offensive.
Negative impact
Facebook will also begin more heavily weighting the responses of people who rarely hide ads more.
So if a user suddenly offers negative feedback about an ad, this will be given more attention that a user who provides regular feedback.
The update is rolling out to a select group of users and will hopefully provide more relevant content for users, and targeted audiences for advertisers.
