Pinterest punches up its analytics

There must be something in the water. Last week Twitter finally unveiled a decent analytics dashboard – now Pinterest is following suit.

Pin the tail on the metric

Pinterest announced their free analytics dashboard for brands in a blog post.

“We’re excited to announce a new, smarter analytics tool to help businesses worldwide continue to improve how they work, with meaningful insights about what their customers are interested in,” Pinterest product manager Jason Costa.

Pin to win

Pinterest previously offered a basic analytics tool that only provided web data.

Now brands can see metrics from mobile users, in addition to tracking which boards are performing best and which categories are most popular with their followers.

Demographic data about followers including country, language and gender is also on tap.

Pinning pays

As Pinterest moves towards ads, it makes sense to give brands a better sense of how their content is working on the platform.

Ideally for Pinterest some of the 100,000 brands on the platform might be swayed by the dashboard into becoming paying customers.
