Continuing its embrace of all things virtual and video, Facebook has released its first app for 360 video.
In a Spin
The app, available on the Samsung Gear VR, and is divided into four tabs.
The "Explore" tab shows trending content, and the "Following" tab lets you access content posted or produced by your Facebook friends.
The "Timeline" tab lets you to curate all your photos and videos in one place, while the "Saved" tab is self explanatory.
At this stage, the app has access to 25 million 360 photos, and over 1 million 360 videos.
Baby steps
While the app is only available for a relatively small segment of Facebook users, it shows that Facebook is dedicating lots of gold to pushing 360 and VR video into the mainstream.
It also follows Facebook's move into lounge rooms, with the recent announcement of its first dedicated video app for Apple TV and Amazon Fire TV.
The 360 app can be downloaded at the Oculus Store.
