In a meeting of worlds (and mediums), Facebook has released its first streaming app for Apple TV.

The Facebook video app is now available for the fourth generation Apple TV and Samsung Smart TVs.
The app recommends content based on the Pages you like, and videos shared by your friends.
But the app's main purpose is as a hub for Facebook Live streaming, similar to Twitter's rival smart TV app.
New World Order?
The app appears to be the first volley fired in Facebook's broader video plans. Facebook is planning to release similar apps for Amazon Fire and Chromecast.
In moving from mobile to living rooms, Facebook could increase not only the amount of video being consumed, but potentially move into longer form videos, a la Netflix and Amazon. And of course charge more for video advertising in the process.
