How many emojis does it take to fill Messenger?
More than a few thousand apparently, as Facebook's messaging app just rolled out 1500 new icons.
Smiley face?
Facebook explained in a blog post that the new emojis represent more diversity.
"From skin tones that you can choose to lots of women in great roles, Messenger is beginning to make emojis more representative of the world we live in."
Some of the new additions include a female police officer, while red heads also make their emoji debut here. Many of the icons are gender agnostic.
And all the regular emojis, such as the ubiquitous thumbs up, can now be modified with a greater variety of skin colours.
Mix and match
The new emoji family is now available globally for Messenger across Android and iOS.
With 10% of Messenger communications including an emoji, expect more smiley faces and thumbs up coming to a phone near you, really soon.
