Facebook loves tinkering with its products almost as much as Twitter does. The latest update: new GIF buttons for Messenger.
Message in a bottle
While there's been no official announcement, several Facebook chat and Messenger users have spied the new buttons, which appear when you open a chat window.
Sitting beside the Send Money, Photo and Sticker buttons, clicking the GIF icon reveals a list of randomly selected GIFs and a search box.
Shake it up
The update makes searching and sharing GiFs more streamlined on mobile.
Currently users need to download a separate dedicated app to search and share GIFs, then feed them through an app such as Messenger.
Facebook recently made GIFs shareable on the web, so a similar function boost to mobile seems a logical step.
