Facebook releases standalone Events app

It worked for Messenger, why not for Events? So might be the wisdom behind Facebook's latest spin-off – the Events from Facebook app.

Events keeps you up-to-speed on events your Facebook friends are interested in, events from Pages you like, and updates from events you're already connected to.

You can also browse event recommendation based on time, location, and interests. Events by Facebook lets you peruse events in other cities and regions.

While a Facebook calendar helps you keep track of all your upcoming social obligations.

Your actions on Events from Facebook will also show up on Facebook and can be viewed by your friends, even if they don't have the app.

Facebook says over 100 million people now use Facebook events every day, and share hundred of millions of events every year.

This app could help marketers angling for greater organic reach for the Facebook faithful.

Events from Facebook is now available in the US of iOS users, with a wider rollout expected in the coming months.
