So put on your geek hats and settle down for some fun-tastic Facebook facts.

Facebook is now old enough to vote (and buy booze) in Australia and New Zealand. Founded in 2004, Facebook now boasts 1.47 billion daily active users, and a tidy 2.23 billion monthly active users.

That's over a quarter of the world's population logging on every month.

Like or Lump it

Close to one third of Facebookers are aged 25 – 34 years, and five new Facebook profiles are created every second.

Females use Facebook slightly more than males, and the most active time of the day to post is during lunch break, between 1pm – 3pm on weekdays.

Engagement is almost 20% higher on Thursdays and Fridays, and the average user spends 20 minutes on Facebook every day.

Content Factory

In the minute you'll take to read this paragraph, 136,000 photos will be uploaded, 510,000 comments posted, and 293,000 statuses will be updated on Facebook.

In fact, close to 5 billion billion pieces of content are shared daily on the platform.

And the world's most popular fan Page? Facebook itself, with over 200 million fans. Other notable entries include Pages dedicated to Coca-Cola Zero, Cristiano Ronaldo, Texas Hold 'Em Poker, Family Guy, Michael Jackson, and Shakira.
