Facebook has updated Stories with a dedicated photo editing feature for desktop users, allowing for the addition of colour filters, text, and stickers.
Tumbleweeds and pixel polish
Even with Facebook Stories being something of a ghost town compared to Snapchat and Instagram, the platform is bringing its updated image-posting photo editor to the section.
To access, users need only click the “Edit Photo” button found to the bottom right before posting, prompting a series of options regarding fonts and colour styles.
The addition of photo editing in Stories marks yet another attempt in Facebook’s intense efforts to push their less-used section.
Never say never
Facebook isn’t ready to throw in the towel on Stories just yet, as Mark Zuckerberg remains optimistic that adopters will come.
2017 saw a great deal of tug-of-war between Snapchat and Facebook-owned Instagram, making its own Story service even more redundant. However cross-platform integration has become an enormous push.
As Facebook continues to amalgamate services between its own apps, we may be looking at the early steps of standardisation – even if its less-than-thrilling Stories serves as a place holder for now.
