Facebook is testing the waters with a new feature that's already being described as a potential Yelp-killer. It goes by the unassuming name of Professional Services.
Reviews all round
The feature lets users search for a wide range business services in a specific area. For example, you might want to research plumbers in Montreal, or get up-to-speed on the best pizza places in Adelaide.
Facebook pulls its data from the business Pages on the social network, while listings are sorted by star ratings and accompanied by user reviews.
Yelp killer?
Professional Services is only available on desktop at this stage, and hasn't received an official launch. However if it gets the green light the feature could potentially put a very large dent in location-based services like Yelp and Foursquare.
Especially if Facebook's massive mobile userbase gets on board.
